Statiska och dynamiska rynkor – vad är skillnaden och hur kan du vårda dem naturligt?

Static and dynamic wrinkles – what's the difference and how can you care for them naturally?

My thoughts on wrinkles – and aging with dignity

Over the years, I’ve met many women – and men – who, like myself, want to take care of their skin in a way that feels both natural and respectful. We want to keep our expressions and our life’s story on our faces, while also softening those fine lines that life has left behind.

Wrinkles are not a problem, they are part of our history. But sometimes you want to give your skin a little extra care. That's why I want to share what I've learned about the difference between dynamic and static wrinkles, and how you can work with them naturally.

What are dynamic and static wrinkles?

Dynamic wrinkles – when the face expresses itself

Dynamic wrinkles appear when you move your face – when you smile, squint or frown. They indicate life and emotion and usually disappear when the face is at rest.

Some common examples are:

  • "11-lines" between the eyebrows, sometimes called worry lines
  • Crow's feet around the eyes
  • Smile lines at the mouth

Static wrinkles – lines that stay put

Static wrinkles are the lines that are visible even when the face is completely relaxed. They often come with age, when the skin loses elasticity and volume, and are also affected by lifestyle, sun and stress.

Typical example is:

  • Horizontal lines on the forehead
  • Nasolabial folds that run from the nose to the corner of the mouth
  • Marionette lines from the corner of the mouth down towards the chin

What wrinkles does Frownies help with?

Frownies are particularly effective in treating static wrinkles – those lines that remain even when the face is at rest. These wrinkles often occur after prolonged muscle activity and reduced skin elasticity, and can be exacerbated by stress, lack of sleep or tense facial muscles.

By gently holding the skin in a relaxed position overnight, Frownies help the muscles to relax. Over time, this can help to both reduce the appearance of existing wrinkles and prevent new static lines from forming. They are especially good for areas like the “11 lines” between the eyebrows, horizontal forehead lines and crow’s feet around the eyes – places where tension often collects.

Treatments – what options are available?

Many people turn to injections like Botox or fillers to quickly get smoother skin. These are effective methods but not for everyone. I wanted to find something more natural and gentle – a way to take care of the skin without losing the expression that makes us unique.

Frownies – a natural way to smoother lines

I became curious about Frownies after hearing so many positive things about them. Frownies are small, discreet facial patches that you apply before going to bed. During the night, they help muscles relax, much like a soft splint, which can help lines soften and tension decrease over time.

They come in different shapes to suit different areas – forehead, eyes and mouth – and are made from natural materials. They are easy to use at home and do not require a needle or harsh chemicals.

Patience and love – the key to results

Frownies is not a quick fix, but with regular use it can help your skin rest, recover and gradually become softer. The great thing is that you get to keep your natural expression – just in a more relaxed and harmonious version.
